Drones

Do you ever realize that most of our populations are drones ?

The nerds call them “The Blue pills.” The hipsters call them “Mainstream.” They are the general consensus.

They wear the clothes some magazine or advertising tells them to. They listen to the music on the radio and what their friends are listening to. They only watch movies that available on the cinemas. They celebrate a day as a special day because it says so on some calendar. They go to events, just because everyone is going. They do something new, because it’s hip and everyone is doing it. In short, they do everything they are told to do by society. 

Growing up, I was taught that everyone is born unique. Not two person are the same in the world. Everyone has different point of views, taste, values and beliefs. I embraced that notion. I tried to be different, and I am proud to be different. 

But these people.. I cannot ever understand why they denied their God given rights to be different. It’s like they live in a bee hive. Everyone has their roles. One bee is special, so it became the queen. The rest of them, they become drones and soldiers, without any desire to be something more. Maybe society is like that. If everyone has their own thing, the gears will not turn and society will collapse.

Or, maybe Chuck Palahniuk was right. We are not a unique or beautiful snowflake. We are the same decaying organic matter as everyone else. And we are all part of the same compost pile.
